Vicar Steve’s installation will be during worship at Washington and NELC on Sunday, April 6. There will be a 12-noon parish potluck at NELC.

Jess Gulseth, from Red Willow-Park River Bible Camps, will be here preaching and talking about bible camp on Sunday, March 23.

We will have extra noisy offering on March 23 to support Park River and Red Willow Bible Camps.

Deb will be out of the office, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

There will be NO confirmation or youth group during Lent. The confirmands are required to help serve the Lenten suppers and participate in Lenten services each week.

Cancer Benefit Dinner for Tanya Maruska, Sunday, March 23, 11 am -2pm at the Northwood Community Center. Pulled pork lunch. Free will offering. Tanya is fighting stage IV clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
She has ongoing medical expenses with travel to Mayo. Donations to a silent Auction are welcome, contact Kayla Evenstad.

We have reserved 17 spots for helping at the “Save My Starving Children” event, Friday, April 11, 2:30 – 4:45 pm at Minnkota Power in Grand Forks. There is a sign-up sheet at NELC or contact the church office if you are interested in participating.

NELC is collecting items for the Northlands Rescue Mission in March. The shopping cart in the entry is for your donations.

Items needed are: Men’s winter gloves L & XL, Men’s underwear (new) S-2XL, women’s underwear (new) all sizes, twin size fitted sheets, plastic/rubber flip-flops, white undershirts and tank tops, rice, cream of (anything) soup, canned vegetables, noodles, toilet paper, wash cloths, shampoo, body wash, paper towels, shaving cream,
razors, tooth paste, toothbrushes (individually wrapped).

A portion of our offering that goes to the EaND Synod helps provide funding for new ministries across the ELCA through new ministry grants.

Hi there!
My name is Steve DeKrey, and I am the Pastor of the Northwood/Washington parish. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul Minnesota.

I live in Grand Forks with my wife, Emilie, daughter, Aeryn and our two dogs River and Nellie.

When I am not at the church, I enjoy playing video games and boardgames with my family, watching any good sci fi, animated or fantasy series on the many different streaming services that exist, or running games of Dungeons and Dragons for my family and friends.

My family and I are huge fans of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. We are also huge hockey fans always cheering on UND! My favorite hockey team is the Chicago Blackhawks, but you will likely see me sporting hockey sweaters from many different teams just because I think they look cool.

My background and emphasis at seminary was youth ministry, and I am always looking at ways for the church to change and adapt to better serve groups of people and communities that live very different lives than when our churches were first established.

I am very invested in how a message of grace and forgiveness for all of God’s people runs counter to the way the world works. As a church called by God, we are to be concerned for the least of these as Jesus taught, and that no one is beyond God’s love.
